OMS oil leak @ inlet pipe.

My OMS has a small weeping leak at the inlet pipe and oil line from the oil reservoir. I have replaced the oil line with new OEM clips several times. While I had the starter off for repair, I again replaced the oil line with new clips but this time I eliminated the sight glass, leaving only two places for the oil line to leak.
My question is there, or have there been cases of oil leaks from the OMS in the inlet area?

Most likely from the hose and fitting clamp area. Do check around for any distortion or hairline cracks just in case.

Is your oil line the rubber version that says OMC oil line on it along its length (1/4" I.D.) or do you have the smooth vinyl line that is now rock hard?

If its rubber, cut back about 1/2" and use the black "snap-clamp" on it for best security, part no. 322654. Glad you got rid of the sight tube, new motors have one continous hose from the oil bulb to the pump inlet so fewer chances for air leaks.

I always used, what I thought was new VRO oil line and clips along with the sight glass. This time I eliminated the sight glass and on the oil line is "1/4 SAE J30R7 Oil Line" with a yellow strip in the other side. This new line has a slightly larger outside diameter and takes a size larger plastic/nylon clip. The older style oil hose was rubber, not smooth "BUT" had Bombardier fuel on the side.
I have not been out on the river since this last change. Although, I have run the engine extensively on the garden hose without any signs of a leak as soon as we go out on the river again, I will report back if this change has made a difference.

Bottom line, I need to be more skeptical of my parts counterman.

Did the new line have a 1/4" ID and did it fit snugly over the oil nipples? Make sure it is not a 5/16 ID line

    Yes sir,
The new line has a 1/4" ID and did fit snugly over the oil nipples. The new hose as stated above is; "1/4 SAE J30R7 Oil Line" with a yellow strip in the other side. The old line has the same ID as the new hose, "BUT" the OD on the new hose is slightly larger.
The old line is most similar to the old OEM hose, the same ID/OD.
At any rate, I am not sure if the leak was/is coming from the hoses with all the connections or if the OMS has a slight leak. I really don't know however, as persnickety as I am, I "WILL", with the aid of my BBS friends, trace the source of this dad burn leak.

    Good morning sir,

Took the boat out yesterday on a 5 hour crabbing trip. Motor ran the entire trip never shut off from start to finish.
Top speed 29 mph @ 3000 rpms, yielding 3.1 mpg @ 3000 rpms. Trip total miles 31, a lot of idling few burst of speed up to 25 - 29 mph, nothing excessive just a nice outing with my Peetie-pie. Good day on the water and "NO OIL LEAK" @ the OMS. The oil line is dry.
