    Tackle Box Alternative.

One of my main problems in buying tackle boxes is i usually end up with having dead space that i dont really use. The way i fish i dont need to take extra tackle boxes and the ones i take need to have every square inch of space accounted for.

Ive been using the Rubber-Made file folder boxes for tackle boxes. The particular ones i use will hold either 12 Plano 3705 or 6 of the 3700 utility boxes. They fit perfectly with no slop between box placement.
There is also plenty of spots to attach a nylon shoulder strap and if you put a couple of product advertisement stickers on the sides it looks like an "official products" tackle box. I actually had a couple of guys come over and ask me where i got the Gamakatsu tackle boxes.

When I still had my jon boat I had a Rubbermaid tote box which I had filled with plano utility boxes, also had a spinnerbait box, and several big ziplock bags with plastics. This system was much more efficicient than any other tackle box i had found. In my bass rig I still use the plano utility boxes (use storage boxes instead of tote box), in conjunction with Cooks GoTo system, It works well for me and I am always thinking of improvments. IMO the big plastic tackle boxes offer alot of wasted space and little versatility.

    Re: Tackle Box Alternative. (WidowMaker)

I keep the things I need to have readily available in a small bag about 9x7x3 with two large pockets and two small flap pockets on the front and a shoulder strap. I keep several bags of soft plastics in the main compartment and some hard lures in Rat'l Trap boxes in the back compartment. In the flap pockets, I keep hooks and weights and such. I have a couple of bigger tackle boxes that I keep in the storage areas of the boat and don't take out unless I have too. This helps me keep my boat neat and I don't have to trip over stuff as much...My wife actually bought the bag at Wal-Mart to use as a purse but didn't like it. I will send a picture if anyone wants to see it.
