    Carry a jumpstart

We all carry jumper cables, but what if nobody is around to jump you, or you can't reach the battery?

A 12 volt DC Jump Start system can save your day, and it is portable to some pretty inconvenient places, like the middle of the lake. They can jump several vehicles on a single charge, and serve as a low volume air compressor in an emergency.

Got one! And it has come in handy!

I've bought two of those darn things and have yet for one to even jump start my lawnmower. They have never had enough power to jumpstart my vehicle. What kind of jumpstart are you guys using???

    Re: Carry a jumpstart (Jiggernaut)

I got a L-cheap-o at K-mart for $19.00. It actually jump started my 98 Z-71 after my buddy left the interior light on at the ramp. It was dead as a hammer. Had to let it sit there hooked up for about a minute but it fired it off. Mind you it was summer and not winter temps though. I dont carry one in the boat, too heavy. I carry jumper cables and jump from my trolling batteries. Done it several times. The Fichs need like 1000 cranking amps to spin up fast enough to start but my 225 Merc will crank off the trolling bat. jump every time.

Mine is a Vector Start-It Elite.
    http://www.battery-rechargeabl....html

It was $60 or $70 dollars at Meijer's.

I've only used it twice so far, but on the same initial charge (both times in warm weather)-
1- on a car, which turned right over and started
2- on an older bassboat with a ??150 on it when the guy forgot to plug it in. His wife kept crankin' on it, but didn't have the choke right. Took about 15 tries, but it started and was still turnin' over hard when it did. That was handy, since they had drifted away from the dock and I just grabbed it and TM'd out to them to see if they wanted to use it.

I got one and have had to use it in my work vehicles. Would never be w/o one again.
