    Tip for remembering.

I don't remember if this has been brought up before. I just noticed a post where someone couldn't remember how something went together after taking it apart to do repairs. Buy as cheap as you can find (if you don't already have one) digital camera. Take pictures of anything you are getting ready to take apart, remove or disassemble. Really a great idea if it is a major project. Take lots of pics. Close-ups and overall shots. Once you have the camera it doesn't cost a thing to take as many pics as you need too.

I had a 1978 Evirude 115 that I rebuilt myself. I took polaroid pics of the engine, wires, linkage, etc. before I started disassembling it. I also drew diagrams and took notes of the disassembling project. Helped considerably when reassembling.

Yea, it would be wise to at least load them on the PC. Fish'n been OK, not great. Can't find enough time to go very often.

I've even gone as far as video tape the disassembling process.

My buddy took pictures of his inboard motor as they tore it down. When it came time to put it back together I was called upon to help. The pictures really saved us a lot of time but I did find out one thing.

First start taking pictures before you do ANYTHING. We where able to completely rebuild the motor using the pictures. However when we dropped the motor back in there where some spacers that went either above the motor mount or below. We thought they where for cushioning but after burning up the drive shaft. The mechanic told us the spacers actually went above the mounts.
