Topwater Fishing

If you fish a lot of topwaters like spooks, and the spittin image try this. I get tired of my line getting tangled in the treble hooks............Start at the lure and coat about a foot of your line with Chap Stick. It will make your line float and keep it out of the way of the hooks.

I've always heard of using candle wax for this but it's easier to get chapstick... A lot of guys I know won't even fish spitting images because of the hook-line problem

I use bass wax for this since I already have it handy. It works great and the bait performs better with aline that floats, but it will still occassionally get hooked up on the hooks. I first saw the idea on a Hank Parker Outdoor magazine show on TV.

I used to have this stuff to put on my line to make it float, dont remember who made it, I ran out and havent been able to find it since....
