I wanted to shorten the run (wiring) for my front trolling motor on my johnboat and came up with the following. Works pretty good so far.

Looks great. How's the weight? Notice any difference in stability?
Nice clean look....![]()

Doesn't weigh much at all...about 12 lbs. I made it out of white pine for that very reason...to keep the weight down. Then I put 4 coats of polyurethane on it for weather protection and attached it to the middle bench seat from the inside to keep it from rolling around in the boat. This is a 16-foot flat-bottom john boat and almost 6-feet across in the middle so it is very stable. My fishing partner and I fish in a "small-lakes" bass club here in the Atlanta metro area so this boat is ideal. Believe it or not...a guy gave me this boat...of course it had been sitting in his back yard for 4 years and had trees growing out of it and ant piles in it...6 months of work on the boat and trailer and about $700 invested and I've got me a great little fishing rig. I've also got a Nitro 750LX for big lakes that my oldest son actually uses more than me...I'm just paying for it.
