Fishing Spinnerbait in Deep Water W/Picture(tip of the month February)

I run accross this tip this past weekend while surfing the web, while not my own
ideal I thought it was worth posting.
Sometimes, slow-rolling a spinnerbait down real deep across structure is the only way to get a cold winter bass to strike. But, spinnerbaits weren't made to fish deep. Recently, a few companies have come out with extra-heavy versions of their spinnerbait products to support deep applications. The only problem is that these are special application lures and the price is high. What we need is a good 10-cent fix for our everyday spinnerbaits, which will allow us to get them deep. Look at the picture and it'll show you how easy it is to get a spinnerbait down deep.
Just about any fishing supply or WakMart will carry these small sinkers.

I pull the rubber out and crimp it to the shank of the hook. If you're making it perminate put some epoxy on it and you're good to go. JimC

I agree with Ranger, crimp the weight without the rubber insert on to the shank of the hook. Doing it that way the weight is in line with the head of the spinnerbait and that will also keep it running straight.

You can also wrap solder on the hook shank. That's what I do to add weight to a small spinner bait.
