johnson 150 serial model number info

hi to all, i am newer to the boating world and have used this forum alot over the past year. its great how helpful people have been its great
i am looking at stepping up to a big boy boat. hahah for me atleast, and it his a 99 johnson 150
i did a few searches and it seems to be carbed and not a fuel injected ficht motor.
its
model number is j150plee and
serial number is g04671327
i was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a good/bad choice in outboards and if they had any major problems

by the way its on a stratos fish and ski.
i have used my alum boat for alot of bass fishing, but took it on family vacation this year and since then it seems im almost 50/50 fishing/tubing

Andy, welcome to the BBC. That motor has been the work horse of the fleet since it was first introduced in 1991. Solid as a rock one of the best that OMC came out with and the design is awesome. Simple and easy to work on and maintain. It will serve you well. Of course have it checked out before purchase by a qualified tech/shop but overall a strong performer.

well thanks for the response. im guessing its not a ficht so thats a good thing... i actually am very mechanically inclined and work as a mechanic part time. i will do a compression check and check all that kind of stuff, i just wanted to make sure its not a motor that is known as a ticking time bomb. i actually won a champion fish ski on ebay back in may but the guy was a deadbeat and sold it locally after the auction that i won ended haha. just my luck

yeah great deal too a 93 19ft fish and ski with a 200 merc for 4250 was my winning bid!!
