    Painting Boat Trailer w/"Herculiner".

Haven't done this as of yet. I made the statement to an aquaintance a while back that I was wanting to paint my boat trailer. They suggested "Herculiner" a truck bedliner paint. They were in the process to do their trailer as soon as the weather dried out. When I returned to the campground they had returned to their home in DC so I never saw the results of their work. My ? is has anyone used this product to painttheir boat trailer and what do they think of the results. If any picturesare available I sure would like to see them. Thank you for the reviews.

I used the walmart version, not sure of the brand. But I jacked up the boat and trailer and sanded the entire inside of the trailer. I ran onto a boil chip road right after they put it down and it hadn't settled. The next spring the salt still on the road made the trailer start to rust. I primed and then rolled on the bedliner with a smooth finish roller and a small brush for the corners. I think it turned out good and I sold the next year and it still was holding. I dont see any problem with it and I would do it again

here is my 95 champ 183

Herculiner was used for the trailer and boat. just make sure you sand every area you wanna bed line. if you don't the bed liner will not stick.

i loved the final product of this boat. i was very sad the day i sold it.

I did my last trailer with herculiner.... DON"T DO IT!!! It was the biggest mistake. I was so happy the day I sold it lol, after 6 months it lost its black shine and became dull... kind of grayish. It was very durable but if you care about the look of your trailer... you won't like it.

Simple solution... Armor-All will keep the shine and the luster... thats if you didnt opt for the UV protective coating...

Basically... any type of liner will lose their luster over time... whether it be months or years... Armor-All does the job great... After you launch your boat and park your rig... spray the trailer with armor-all and then go fishing...

Its the durability and the preventive of rust that matters more to me... POR-15 is a nice but pricey alternative... I decided to stick with Herculiner for my trailer so that I would have some traction in Oct/Nov as it can get freezing cold in Minnesota at that time...

Don't do it!!! I did and please trust me if you have a nice boat don't do it.
It was a very expensive mistake. It took me a week to strip the junk off and sand and repaint my trailer. It looked hideous and I only left it on for one day.
I ain't even going to go into how much this mistake cost me!

Spray on UPOL liner, has a UV product to product it from fading.

Frank you did LineX and he is asking about Herculiner. There is a big difference in the two of them. There is an finish that you can have put on your trailer that LineX offers. Herculiner is good but it will be dull, dry, looking in no time.

Painting SOME of Boat Trailer w/"Herculiner"

About 15 months ago I ran down a road before dawn the state had put gray pebble gravel on but NO warning signs...pitted the crap out of my trailer!
I took a can of Herculiner...wiped all trailer crossbars facing the front and then applied Herculiner myself with a brush...total cost $49 plus a brush...it has done a great job at preventing more chips as the months go by...
I HIGHLY recommend this for guys living in gravel areas so to speak...maybe even the front of wheel wells...also get rear mud flaps for the tow vehicle...I can send pics...
as far as doing more than those areas...no way I would...my 2 cents.

Can somebody tell me exactly what Ranger uses on their trailers? Also where can you buy it? I am looking to refurbish mine this fall. Thanks!

Re: Painting Boat Trailer w/"Herculiner". (Speadtrap)

I live in the panhandle of Florida where we fish some bass tournaments in the intercoastal waterways (brackish water). I have an 06 Ranger which has there coating similiar to herculite. After 4years mine looks new when some of the steel trailers are ready to be replaced due to rusting. If I had a normal steel trailer in this situation I would definatley do it.

Have a good one and thank God for it!
