How high off the deck did you mount themI have blue and noticed if you hold them in the center of the gunnel it lights the deck up a lot better but does not look as good in daylight

For the most part they are mounted down where the carpet meets the gunnel.
I mounted mine like you describe. Turned off the lights in my shop and raised the lights on the gunwale until I had the most light on the deck and that's where I mounted them.

I mounted mine on the little black strip that goes on top of the carpet.

Per Mike ..... he generally mounts them on the gunnel down against the carpet. That gives them a more "factory" appearance.
I slid mine around to see what area gave the light I needed. Mine work best up 3 in from the carpet. Alot better than close to the carpet, But I dont like the look there in the daytime... This is one reason mine are not mounted yet. I have all my compartments, rod box's, livewells, trailer, and under the consoles done.

i honestly dont pay any attention that mine are there anymore and i have silver the new style matches up pretty decent, mine looked better in the middle also so thats where they went,if i was worried about factory looks id prob switch to the rod buckle type .

I feel the exactly the same way. I cannot make up my mind where I want them. I like them at night about 3" up like you said but during the day I do not like them there![]()
They look alot better down on the carpet, the light is plentiful that way as well you will not be disappointed.
I just finished installing mine. I put the bottom of the LED strip against the top of my carpet trim. Turned out great.![]()
