    lower unit help please 1998 200 venom

    got a 1998 295 pro elite with the 200 venom and a 24 raker, had an accident with the foot coming contact with bottom of ramp and had to get a new one. with old unit i was seeing speeds in the area of 63-64 wot 5800rpm and 30-35psi water, with this new oone im only getting 55wot 5800rpm and 30-35psi water, ive told the place that installed the new one and said it was the setup, but everything is the same as before, prop did not get messed up how i dont know. my ? is there a way to i can find out whhat gear is in my foot and see if they put the right gear back into it, im wanting to get my speed back up to 60+mph and for some reason its a dif gear what prop would i be able to put on there to increase speed and keep holeshot. thanks alot for the help

    unless its a new L2 lower unit its 1:86 gears as thats all they make. except for some of the v4 lowers and I think they are 2:00 or so and you would over tach

    How are you calculating your speed? I would say your gear ratio is the same, however it is possible that you got a commercial V-4 case as a replacement. If that happened, you would have noticed a big difference in the holeshot. Another possibility is what type of oil was installed in the new case. This can make a difference, especially in the top end. Otherwise, I would check the prop very carefully for pitch accuracy, it's possible that one of the blades got distorted without evidence.

    this is with gps and all oil is same as always ran, would the prop lose 10 mph and the holeshot is still goood

    Yes, this is a possibility. Also, you may have disturbed the hub fit in the prop and it could be slipping at high R.P.M.
