Do you cut the carpet rug side up or flip it and cut with the backing side up??? starting to do mu compartments in the cellar waiting for warmer weather to do the actul boat outside. it's all preped just need overnight temp to stay above 50 so glue will dry right...

Cut it on the backing(rubber) side. Be sure to have plenty of new razor blades as you will only get about 6 or 7 feet of cutting before the blade gets dull.

finishing my carpet job now. I didn't really notice a difference in which side I cut from. make sure all the carpet is cut out going the same direction or your grains won't match. i did the entire job with a 5 pack of straight blades. some will say to use more than that, but the only place i really needed to keep a sharp blade was when I trimmed in the front and back decks up against the fiberglass cap.

I usually cut fibers up, but with a sharp blade. I change blades about every 6 cuts on the panels, and about every 3 cuts on the deck. This way the cuts are clean and exact......Mike
