Bow Eye Pushed Through The Hull

On my 1984 Monark the bow eye has pushed through the hull. It hasn't left a large hole just the size of the eye. I am tryng to find the best way to repair this. Nothting seems to be rotten around the area, looks like it has just taken one to many hits over it 30yr life.

I was thinking of getting some stainless plate, Cutting two pieces slightly large that the area where the eye mounts, Forming them to the hull and using one on the outside and one on the inside to spread the pressure over a larger area. Any ideas?

I will post some pics as soon as I cn get outside to take them. Any help will be greatly appreiciated.

    Pictures would be quite helpful!

The bow eye is supposed to be one of the, if not THE strongest part of the hull. Any way you can get in there and beef up the fiberglass behind it some more? I would be careful on just putting on a stainless plate. Depending on the size, it will distribute the pressure outwards to areas of the hull that may not have been designed to carry the pressure. If the pull-through damaged the beefier mounting area, then even with a plate attached, it could pull through again.

Oops, sorry! There are pictures and I just didn't pay any attention. With all that cracking, I would still be worried. I would get in there with some glass and fix it up properly. The steel plate will just force the pressure outwards and, based on the pictures, it looks like that could spell disaster.

be better if you fix both sides with glass and resin. you could fix it with a quart of resin and a yard of 1708. There is a wooden block on the inside that probably broke loose that should be replaced and glassed over. You could use some aluminum pieces on both sides to help out also.

Yep, I would guess also that there is a wood block inside that has rotted away or been nocked loose from the hull. Probably needs fixed from the inside also.

It was my first boat that was able to be power loaded..So it has a few learning strikes on it. Now that I have learned I don't do much more than idle it on.
