any idea how to clean off alot of silicone?

my rubrail had silicone all the way around the boat. I cut most of it off with a razor blade but there is still a thin coating almost all the way around the boat I tried a scotch brite pad and some 1500 wetsand paper not much success. Somebody please have a magic technique to clean this off

Use a rubber wheel on a high speed drill, and it'll take you less than 15 mins to do the whole boat.

I bought a tool at Lowe's to get mine off around the rubrail when I redid mine this year.

I had 90%+ of the old silicone off in no time at all. I was able to get most of it off in log runs. You'll have to do some spot cleaning on areas for sure, and if you're going to reseal you'll want to clean the area with a good solvent.

<table width="90%" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 align=center><tr><td>Quote, originally posted by Sneezy Beltran &raquo;</td></tr><tr><td class="quote">Use a rubber wheel on a high speed drill, and it'll take you less than 15 mins to do the whole boat.</td></tr></table> This^ 3M makes a rubber wheel for removing decals on cars. Takes off the decal and does not harm the paint (if used right). It will zip that silicone right off.
