I am replacing my faded dashplate with a carbon fiber plate. Has anyone replaced it on a Ranger 518? I am wondering if I have to take the helm off or does the factory plate just go around the helm.

Cant speak for the 518 but I have a 520 and yes you do have to remove the Helm. If you have hydraulic steering this is no big deal.
Thanks, I do have hydraulic steering, just didnt want to get in the middle of doing it and run into a problem and miss fishing time. Did you have to undo hoses and rebleed the system?
No. The Helm is two piece so the part with the hoses stays intact behind the dash. Just remove the front part and pull the rest of the helm back so you can ge the dash panel off.
If was pretty easy, took about an hour. Reinstalling all the gauges sucked and I was glad I took pictures of every step along the way.
