I purchased this 1994 Stratos 201 ProXL with 1999 Johnson 225HO in December. It test drove very well and the transom was in great shape. It had a good trolling motor (motorguide tour 82lb) and decent electronics but the seats were garbage and it needed some sprucing up. Here it is when I bought it:
My mechanic checked out the engine and the compression was great. It already had a high-end hydraulic steering system put on but it needed to be tightened up. I ordered a 6" jackplate and transom tuffner, a Momo steering wheel, new seats (tournament series from boatingseats.com) , a new battery charger, a battery switch, a power pole mount (power pole will be installed later but we wanted to put the mount on while we havd the engine off the transom for the jack plate), a new anchor light and mount, a new custom rod rack, new rod straps, an easy view tackle system, and new livewell pumps. We also removed the original Stratos stickers and ordered up some custom ones to give the boat a more modern look, before applying the new stickers we waxed and buffed those areas and saw that the gelcoat really shined up and changed from a teal to a royal blue. We decided to wax and buff the entire hull thoroughly. Here are some of the pictures as the new stuff was installed and the boat cleaned up:
When we were reconnecting the motor we noticed the fuel tank selector valve was totally shot and the part is no longer made. We decided to create a new fuel filtration system with a manual fuel tank selector:
Now all the boat needs is the new livewell pumps installed (wait for spring so they don't get water in them and crack), an HDS8 at the console and an HDS5 at the bow with an LSS1 (waiting for my old boat to sell before splurging), the rod rack has not yet arrived so that needs to be installed. The carpet is OK but will probably need to be redone next winter. I can't wait for some warm weather to melt some of this hard water so I can calibrate the jack plate to get the boat running optimally. I should have more pictures soon.
