I did something

went and started messing with my hotfoot cable
was checking to see if the cable was giving me wot
after I did some adjusting went to the lake and now it does not engage in gear like it did before so I get back home and redo the adjustments but now I can get forward but not reverse or vice versa would the throttle cable be causing me to not go into gear
OH forgot to say when I was on the water when I put it forward as soon as I play with the throttle it would go into gear

Throttle cable is totally different from the shift cable. Disconnect your shift cable from the motor linkage and set it to neutral. The linkage should be paralell to the crank case split. Adjust accordingly. Spin the prop with your foot while shifting.
