    Wiring questiong

Hey guys, I am a new guy to the site. This is my first post. I am currently in the process of remodeling an early 90s Alumacraft Phantom V170. I am replacing all the wiring and ran into a problem. There is a piece of hollow pipe (almost looks like it had a cable in it at one time) that is connected to the back of my lower unit. The cable ran up to my console, but wasn’t hooked to anything. The motor is 1996 Force 75 Hp. Does anyone know what this is for? I ran the boat all of last year and never had any problems, and this wire wouldn’t have been hooked up then either.
    Thanks

It's for your water pressure gauge. When you run the boat, water is pushed thourgh the tube and to the back of your water pressure gauge for a reading of how much pressure is at the foot of your motor.

Is the hose capped at your dash? If everything is hooked up correctly, water should come out of it. If no water is coming out of it, then it is messed up/broken somewhere. It's not necessary to run the boat, but it adds to piece of mind to know you have good water pressure.

    That would be my guess

Water pressure is read either from an outlet on the cylinder head or on the exhaust adapter plate and measures the out put of the water pump. It may be a speedo pick up tube. A picture would help greatly.
