    question for the more experienced guys

    just picked up a 89 Bass Cat...who ever had it before me had a snap type cover on it...well they put the damn snaps on the side of the boat about half way down...whats a good way to fill the hole when i take them out?
    was thinking i could use some Devcon 2 ton epoxy to fill the holes in then use some kind of automotive touchup paint to kind of cover them up...anyone else have any better ideas?
    cant believe why anyone would drill a hole in the side of a boat for a stupid snap cover

    I'd say marinetex but enough to do all those holes would cost about 50+$. But it would be permanent. Then you'd have to do touch up paint.

    Marine Tex would also work. You could then use a gel coat repair kit to try to match the gel.

    Used it many times to fill in gouges and repair holes in a hull. Good stuff.

    Depends on how much you want to spend to make it look good.

    You have a bout 20 small holes to fill and try to match a darker gunmetal and black gelcoat.

    Marine Tex will work, but is tough to get a match for black.

    I would use this Evercoat gel paste, it's neutral in color ( clearish ) and can be tinted using their gelcoat repair kit.

    Gel Paste:

    Tint kit ;

    This way you'll only have 1 fill on the holes to do.

    You'll need to make sure the inside of the hole is cleaned well with acetone to remove any waxes/oils to get a good adhesion, and if you can get behind any of them put some type of backing on the hole.
