    Composite transoms?

Can you buy any sort of composite transom..I can go with glassed plywood but im wondering if there is something better out there...Im doing a full top cap removal and im not sold on seacast..I read in a thread someone got one from Basscat so im wondering if anywhere produces a generic cut to fit

The seacast I used is holding up - plus still have some stuck on the concrete were I did the job and it will not come loose.

I've never seen a generic one.

Bass Cats is a solid fiberglass transom.

Frank has a pic of it in his rebuild thread, about 3/4 down this page :

It is fairly generic looking and you could probably shape it to fit and being glass it would not be hard to laminate it into your hull design.

If you have your transom measurments give them a call to see if one of theirs is a close fit.

The Biggest problem with a wood transom is water. People drill holes in there boats and don't use sealents or the wrong one at best. And most people do not reseal there boats either . . When I redid the floor in my Venture I glassed in mounting point blocks in with SS blind nuts so the floor would not have holes all the way through it . .. So with the new electronics out thier No more speed senors( GPS) better tranducers for shoot throughs a person can limit the holes put in the boat. A freind of mine has the 1977 Terry 6.3 that I redid in the early 90s and it is still going strong. It needs to repaited now but the floor and transom are still good . So I think that you could get another 20 yrs out of a rebuild easy

My Champion has a Coosa Board transom which was installed in 2005. Pretty hard stuff and no issues yet. There is also a product called Arjay 6011 which is similar to Seacast but easier to pour and half the price. Wellcraft uses it in thier boats.
