99 115 johnson fitch started shaking while running

was fishing yesterday. while running to my spot the motor started losing speed and rpms. then it started shaking reak bad so i shut it down. when i started it back up it was fine until i put it in gear shaking returned. i fished for 2 hours went to start it and couldnt get it started. got the boat home and checked the gear lube and it was a milky green color (like a shamrock shake) sort of thin. im assuming i got water in my lower unit but why would this not allow me to start the engine. I just bout this thing so im sorry if im asking obvious questions but im at a loss. please help

I think you maybe on the wrong track here, I kind of dounbt water in the gearcase will stop the motor from starting, are you sure there was water in the oil before we go any further?

You need to pull the spark plugs first and examine the condition of them. Next would be a compression test. Next would be to retrieve any codes from the ECU. You will need the diag software and a PC with serial cable for this.
