Not difficult at all. Make sure you disconnect the battery cables before you start. I recommend that you always disconnect the ground cable first then the positive cable. Now you can safely remove your starter and repair it yourself or take it to an automotive starter / alternator repair shop, as I recently done for my motor.

remove port side cover for access. There is just enough room to pull the starter motor and shaft gear out of the engine block casting. Note how the solenoid is attached to it and where the wires go to facilitate installation.

Very Easy on a scale of 1-10 its about a 3 - PS replace the retaining clip for the gear to the starter and purchase a fewin case you fubar one. Whole project from start to finish 10- 15 minutes.
