where to get AND how to do

    where to get....
In the pictures showing the consoles, where can i get the black stripping to replace the one thats falling off. It looks like someone replaced it before and it was too short and the glue woulnd't hold.....

    how to do...
in the picture showing the gauges, you can see the "dashboard" is a very light woodgrain. the original finish was chipping off everywhere so we just scraped it all of, leaving this light wood grain on what i think is plastic. Theres a darker spot in the picture where i made it wet, and i want to keep that wet look (even darker), but don't know how. I would say stain, but again its plastic so there's nothing for it to seep into. I want it dark like it was but i don't think i can do that. And i know i could just replace it, but i like having the button labels indented

and one more thing, whats the trailer button do? (havn't had on the water yet)

If it were mine, I would first give it a thorough cleaning and a buff job. Maybe that will give it some shine. Hard to say without seeing it. If that failed, I would try an automotove clearcoat. NOT some rattle can crap, but a good clear. I bet if you drop the part off at a body shop they would spray it for next to nothing next time they do a car. It would be quite trivial to paint it if your already set up for it.

The "bow up" "bow down" button is trim, the "trailer" button is tilt.

Engine trim is limited by a switch, so you can't trim the motor too far up.

The tilt (trailer button in your case) is not limited and thats how you can either tilt your motor past the tilt limit for obstructions or shallow water, and tilt it up for trailering your boat.

since its just a push button, does that mean it only goes up when you push it, or do i need to hold it while i push the trim up/down?

check this out on your dash
    http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=33879

the trailer button only goes up when pushed.....

if you hold the bow up button up it will stop then to go on up with the motor let go of the bow up and push the trailer button to go all the way up (tilt)

Yes button only will move motor up. I never used mine because when the motor is off your tilt/trim button will move the motor to any position. At least that is what mine did before the handle broke.

I did send my dash out to get it refinished I will post some pics tonight after I get the gages in.

you will have to replace your dash pannel. there is no miricle stuff to bring the color back. i ended up replacing mine because it was starting to fade. you can buy the pannel material from ranger, and use the one you have to cut the shape of your dash plate. and replace it with new. its not expensive, with shipping and all my sheet can do 2 complete dashes and it was $32.00 this is my finnished dash after i cut it all out, and installed

I bought some similar at Advance Auto. JC Whitney sells it as well as most car parts stores.

so i finally got through to the ranger parts dept, only 44 minutes on hold waiting for a rep, but.... the dash pannel uncut is $13.00 linear foot, or it was 180 for the drivers side with the holes cut out, and 90 for the precut passenger side... i'd rather pay the 13 bucks/foot.... plus my dads a cnc machinist so he's going to cut it and engrave it for free...... saved my ass on this one, thanks JEREMY!!
