Just sold my outboard to my neighbor. Are there any special instructions I need to remove the connection to between the steering cable and the outboard or is it just a direct loosening of the nut?
Thanks

All you should have to do is loosen the large nut and disconnect the linkage that is attached to the end of the cable rod and pull it out of the steering tube that is attached to the motor. You will most likely have to remove the motor from the transom to get enough angle to pull the rod out of the steering tube.
1987 Ranger 373V 150 Yamaha proV still going strong.
The outboard was already removed from the transom. The steering wheel and all were attached to a do it yourself console. I know exactly which connection you are speaking of. It's attached with a plastic insert so it doesn't vibrate loose.
Thanks
