When I took my 83 Skeeter in to have the rebuilt motor installed, the shop insisted that I pitch the old Galvy fuel tanks and replace with new plastic. Way way way too many problems caused with crud from old tanks. Literally impossible to get it all out. The result of any dirt in the tank is a stalled motor. This could be critical or a safety issue. And this is with a 4-stroke carburated engine. They said some put marbles in the tank and rattle them around. Haven't tried it. New tanks are around $65 each for 9-gallons. Your call.
Iwould pour the old gas out put a small mount back i n with seafoam to loose any gas scales lose a couple times then air dry![]()
I recently bought a boat with old gas as well and I'm trying to decide what to do with it.
Where do you guys dump your old gas? I've read that some folks dump it into their cars/trucks, but I hesitate on that one...
