you guys are serious about rebuilding a boat!
all you guys need is a mold and some gelcoat and you could just build your own!
    Good work...

Re: More restore pictures 84 Procraft 1650 (mcgaff1)

Question for you - I have a 1983 Procraft 1540 Bass that I'm currently recarpeting. What kind of glue did you use? I bought indoor/outdoor carpet glue and it doesn't seem to be holding on the hatch covers very well. I am using liquid nails for the carpet that is wrapping around the outside and back inside on the hatch covers.........

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Never mind - haha. I just read down through the rest of the old posts and answered my own question! I am definately taking back the carpet glue I got and getting some contact cement and some 3M spray adhesive! After thinking for a minute - I will keep the carpet glue and do the main deck areas with this.......then use the contact cement for the lids and wrapping the deck carpet!

I love this board! Get answers in plenty for whatever you need!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wish me luck!

I'm considering taking on a project just like yours possible, the same year Pro-Craft 1650V.
The guy wants a $1000 for it. He says its solid, good seats, all new gauges, new tires, new trailer lights, gas tank, jackplate, fairly decent gelcoat for its age,and everything as far as livewells and stuff is working. Plan on hanging my 90hp Inline 6 Merc on it if I buy it.

    What do you guys think?

Mcgaff1 do you have any finished pics.

I had the exact boat in a 1984 same colors and a 115 Mariner.... I loved that boat. Drove great and the ride was impressive for it's size....

    Great work on the restore.

Re: More restore pictures 84 Procraft 1650 (mcgaff1)

I went check the pro-craft out that I posted above. The transom and everywhere was solid, but under the console the floor was real flexible, looked like it was only 1/4 inch fiberglass thickness. The owner was 100% honest about the whole rig. Anyway I decided to pass on it, trying to stay patient and figured I'd just buy something a lot newer that requires little to no work. I restored a 1976 Hydra-Sport and it has just turned into a money barrel that never fills up.

The only problem is that, Looking for and finding that perfect used boat that will satisfy all my ambitions, is almost worse than going shopping all day with a woman.
