This may be a stupid question but how are you guys painting your boat without taking it off its trailer? Also, Aircraft paint remover that you can get at Auto Zone is amazing stuff. It has stripped the paint to the bare aluminum with ease. Really messy though.
I bought a roll of plastic painter's sheeting and used it to wrap the entire boat and everything I did not want to get paint on. Worked like a charm. I painted inside my garage, so I also had a plastic tarp on the garage floor that the trailer was sitting on.
EDIT: I misread your post. My advice above was for painting the trailer, not actually the boat itself.Sorry, can't help with your boat painting question.

Buddy of mine had a good size johnboat & we got a few buddies to help flip it & put it on sawhorses, of course we took everything we could outa the boat first.
So how did you paint where it sits on the runners?
