    ? for Gearcaseman

    have a CR gearcase from a 2000 ficht 200HP. 25" shaft.

Can this shaft be removed and replaced with a 30" shaft from another gearcase?

I have received some conflicting answers.

I really don't see a problem with this, as the engine is turning clockwise in either case, so I would say yes.

    thanks for the responce!

i just wanted to confirm that the shafts are interchangeable. I was talking to one guy and he said only 2 peice shaft LU could be changed, and if i have a 1 piece shaft it couldnt be swapped. I was just a little confused because I thought that any Ficht v6 LU could be used on another V6 ficht, if you change the shaft

yeah, I guess the question is a bit of a "half the info thing" I guess he is tring to convert a 25" leg to a 30" leg, if that is the case, then of course all the parts are required, or else everything will be 5" short, like the gear shift, the water tube and the mid section, or maybe I am on the wrong track in the way I read it.

There is no one piece shaft for your motor. They started the 2 piece system in '92 and have stayed with that since. The confusion could have been the CR gearcase, which does'nt matter because either motor runs clockwise.

Thank you. I really appreciate your help

I have all the stuff for the 30" shaft motor, just the gearcase broke. So i found a 25" shaft CR gearcase and wanted to make sure i could swap the shaft and the shiftrod and use it in a 30" motor
