    Finished Carpet Install

Well, I finally got finished with the Carpet, Gauges, Electronics, Trolling motor, Locker latches, Etc. Etc. Etc.
Here's some pics, Still not very happy with this new trolling motor, I guess the telling tale will be out on the lake wether or not i keep this style of trolling motor. I just don't see how MK and MG could design such a mount for a Bass Boat. Right now i used a piece of starboard and the holes from the previous MG to mount this thing. Just in case i go back to a cable steer type motor.

I put some before and after pics. Enjoy, and if anyone has any questions fire away.

And the after. hopefully it looks better than before. I am still waiting on the hydraulic steering to come in from Pitstop Marine. I hope it makes it before Thursday. I'm fishing the Louisiana Oilmen's Bass Classic starting Thursday at Toledo Bend.

As i said, it was a fairly enjoyable project. The scraping was very tedious, and cutting the carpet in under the consoles is pretty fun, but other than that, not to bad.
I used contact cement for all of the carpet.

I noticed wiring up the trolling motor today that i only had 10 volts from one of the batteries, so i will replace both of them. They are the stowaway batteries, and have been in the boat for five or six years now so i would say that's pretty good.

Does anyone still carry Stowaway batteries? I would use them again, but don't know if they are still around.

Anyway There it is, all done expect for the steering. This was the first carpet job for me, so if i can do it, anyone should be able to. Just take your time and it will come out fine.
If anyone has any question, don't hesitate to ask. I do travel quite a bit, so don't be surprised if it's a couple days before you see a reply.

Hey, what (roughly) is the total weight of the carpet like that in a typical bassboat?

Re: Finished Carpet Install (A Fn Noob)

Well, I'm not exactly sure, i did pick the roll up off the delivery truck without any problem. I would think 30lbs or less.

How do you keep track of where all you hinge hole are at before you cover them with carpet?

    Re: Finished Carpet Install (darrall)

On the hull side, i just made a single mark with a sharpie on the center hole of each hinge just below where the carpet is trimmed. Then a little acetone after wards easily removes the mark.
On the lids, same thing marked the center hole on each hinge on the carpet inside the lids. Just make them small on the carpet and you will never see them when your finished.

Looks great. I need to do it too. Did you drill out the rivits and take all of the aluminum carpet trim off?

    Re: Finished Carpet Install (FoMoCo)

Yes, I drilled VERY carefully all of the rivets and reused the aluminum trim. I did clean it up with some flitz polish, came out looking better than new.
