Deck Extension??

Hey fellas, Im going to help a friend put a deck extension on his 88' Ranger 373v.. Im wondering how much gap we should leave for the carpet, where it butts up against the existing deck and also for any compartment lids we add?? Thanks for any info!! Lots of resources in this forum!!!

I would say 3/16" to 1/4" for 20 oz. carpeting. I left about this much on my recent deck extension/compartment addition and it turned out pretty decent. Their is enough tuft in the carpet to cover any additional gap, but you will have extra work if you make it too tight of a fit.

If you end up putting the carpet in and the lids are real tight........you can use a pair of shears and trim the carpet down using a #1 guard. Worked perfect on my stratos.
