Adding compartment struts...?

Hi folks, getting ready to start updating and repairing my old boat (Winner Z880). One thing I would like to do is add compartment struts. Searching the net has found a lot of suppliers of gas struts, but no specific info on choosing the kind needed for this application. Can anyone tell me who is the original supplier for some of the more popular and newer boats so that maybe I can head in the right direction? I want to make sure I use the right style and mount them right so I don't end up with a bunch of binding lids! Thanks!

I can't help you on manufacturers. BPS and Cabela's both sell gas struts in various sizes. I just picked up 4 on ebay for $25. They were nearly new with mounting hardware. That's about 1/4 the price of new ones.

Call the boat manufacturer. I updated my boat, called ranger. Told them which compartments I wanted to install struts in. they sent me everything i needed for 3 compartment lids, mounting brackets everything,about $ 50 I think. Mt concern was that I would have a strut that keeps it open when I open it. If you dont get the proper one it may tend not to keep the lid open.
