    Lost sheen

I have an 88 Venture Bassboat. It is beautiful One problem, the previous owner didn't keep it covered for the 2 years he had it. I have had it since 1990. The finish has lost its sheen on all horizontal/flat surfaces. I have tried color back....didn't work. I am afraid to use an abrasive unless that is what I need to do. It is a blue metal-flake.

    Thanks,

    Roger Moore

You can try one of the three step resoration kits avaiable(BassProshops carries)but that is a LOT of elbow grease.
Vertiglas system gives nice result with MINIMAL exertion(no buffing)

    Re: Lost sheen (deej)

I had the same issue with mine and found that getting down and dirty produced the results I was looking for. Started with 1000 grit sand paper then 1500, then 2000 to finish. I then buffed it with 3M buffing compound then waxxed it up. Shine is back without any oxidation or hazing. At least not yet. It took about 20 hrs literally to get it done the way I wanted. If you do decide to wet sand it, make sure you get some rubber gloves or you will sand off your knuckles and finger tips (believe me I know ). Good luck.

I would rec the vertiglass system, but wholely agree with everyone that it takes a whole mess of work to get it looking great. When sanding, just make sure you do a little at a time and feel for the flake with yur fingers. Heavy oxidation will require lots of work, but unless your a pro with the machines, I suggest you work by hand.

    Good Luck!
