what is the best glue for new rubber backed boat carpet?
When I did the carpet on my old boat I used contact cement.
100% without a doubt, Henry's 263, no questions asked in my opinion. Easy to work with, very strong, sets up in almost any condition and readily available.
same henrys as sold in flooing dept. at lowes? looks like sheet floor adhesive?
I just finished mine. For areas like the floor and top of the lids where ya need time to reposition. I used indoor/outdoor adhesive. On the sides of the lids where the rug is folded and I needed a "quick - set. I used 3-M Original Contact Cement.
thanks ,just about ready to reinstall ,got all the old stuff off.

Don't know which number Henry's lowes sells but if it's not 263 you don't want it. The other stuff is probably latex based and won't hold up. It needs to be a solvent based adhesive not water based.

+1, it has to be the waterproof 263. For the edges of my deck lids I used 3M Supper 77 spray adhesive btw.
Where do you get the Henry's 263 from? I loooked on line at Lowes and home Depot but they didnt have it.
I don't live in the US so I cannot say for sure but here in Canada I bought it from a flooring shop.
You can order it online at Hardwareworld.com. Home depot and lowes probably will not sell it because it smells and is not water cleanup. Not harry home owner friendly. It is water proof not just water repellent. Google it and you may find it near you in a flooring store.
lowes and i think home depot stopped carrying the outdoor glue we all used on carpet because henrys wouldnt *back there product* but u can get it online
