    Stratos jackplate question

I'm doing a little research about jackplates for my boat and would appreciate your opinion. I currently don't have one and my boat is a plow because of it.

I have a 2002 Stratos(Javelin) 200. It has a 200 3.1 yamaha on it. My question is will a 10"plate be to long? I've heard you can go to far and obviously I'd like to avoid that.

    Re: Stratos jackplate question (5bites)

some say bigger is better, but generally a 6" setback on your 200 will provide the best all around performance without causing undue transom stress. If you can afford a hydraulic plate go that way you'll be much happier and can eliminate the prop to pad setup hassle.
    Good luck
