    Need some advice (progressive)

Something happen to my motor and i think the ins. co. is
trying to screw me. They want me to sign something giving the
mechanic(my mech.) permission to tear down my motor in order to determine
what happened to it(me paying or them). At this point , they determine if they will payt for it to be
replaced or screw me. I will have to pay for the tear down if they say they wont
cover the damage. What should I do?

I dont want to sign anything.

Do I take a chance or keep my money and just buy another motor?

whats the tear down cost, and I would THINK that the adjuster would have to make the call on the tear down.

I would hope that if THEY the insurance company cant have an adjuster make the call, that they "the insurance company" should be responsible for getting it to the point where they can make that call one way or another.

IF it was honestly something that should be covered I would let them take it apart

Thats what I think too. The adjuster called me and said to sign
this form to authorize the tear down. Well if they decide they dont want
to pay for the repair I pay for the teart down. (around 300.00)

OH NO ! They have to have the tear down to make the call then they pay for the tear down IMO.

My transom needed to be tore into to make the call whether it was an insurance claim or not. They paid for it. They didn't want to but I talked to the adjuster and he agreed. I think it's up to him. Be nice but stern. IMO
