    Lake Wallenpaupack?

Every year 4 of us try and go fishing to a different place sometime in June. Been to Champlain, Oneida, St. Lawrence etc.

One of my buds suggested Lake Wallenpaupack. Is this a good bass fishery?
    Appreciate any info you have!

    Re: Lake Wallenpaupack? (Bugs)

I was just there at the end of July for the 1st time this year. 4 of us but only 2 were real fishermen. Weeds are scattered in small areas. Rest of the lake seemed pretty much rocky along shoreline. We caught some fish and lost 2 nice ones. Pleasure boaters paridise since you can basically run anywhere at top speed except close to shore in the small coves. Constant wave action from all the pleasure boaters(and there's lots). As a bass fishery, it doesn't compare to the other bodies you mentioned. Black Lake in NY is worth a try. We go there every year in Sept. for a week and have been there in June and July for long weekends. Hope I helped.

Basically what Todd says. I live 15 min from it and I will not go near it on weekends in the summer with all the boaters and jet skis.
It is very difficult to fish daytime. After dark is another story. It is a GREAT lake at night. Most BIG fish are caught at night and there are night tournaments during the summer months.
It is a good fishery but you have to know the lake and the "HOT SPOTS" with the right baits. Locals do not give up good spots... it is that simple.
    Hope this helps a little.

Thanx for the info guys and you can keep it coming.
Is the boat traffice that bad during weekdays?

We usually make up our mind in January/February and than start looking for a place to rent.

In all honesty, i would suggest looking into Presque Isle Bay on Lake Erie. In June you can absolutley destroy the LM, easily catch 30+ a day, and then if you hit it right with the weather, the big smallies are still in the bay out in the middle on the humps and you can catch some big big smallies on those humps...and can catch a ton of those each day too.

Last year we caught 25+ LM flipping weeds before noon and then fished the afternoon on the humps for smallies and caught over 25 smallies as well dropshotting. And they bay doesn't get anywhere near as rough as the main lake.

I used to fish Lake Wallenpaupack a few times each year. Lots of traffic on the weekends, along with several tournaments. During the week things were not too bad. This lake does not compare to the others that you have mentioned though. Much smaller and IMO not as good. That being said, there are some guys who do very well there frequently - that has not been my experience.
I agree with the other post when it comes to Presque Isle, Erie. What a place! Only been there a couple of times, but each trip was excellent! Caught several LM in the coves and SM out in the "big water!" Might be a longer drive for you, but well worth it. There are some inexpensive places to stay very close to the lake, along with a good selection of places to eat. Good luck wherever you end up.
