    Blue Marsh Lake, PA.

My tourney partner spent the entire Friday on Blue marsh. Fished hard and long nothing but a tail hooked carp. Surface temp was 58 F. Jigs, beavers, lipless, spinnerbaits, drop shot, even tried tubes for a while, nothing. I hope things will be better this Saturday (10th) for our tournament.

Wish I could help but I've only fished that place a couple of times. The lake sure looks nice and "fishy" though!
Mike, are you fishing the FOM Tourn this weekend? I see that there is an open posted on their website for the 10th.

Yes, my partner and I are fishing it. We went there to prefish and get a better feel for the lake. I fished it a handfull of times last year and did "ok" but nothing to write home about. Most times though were in the middle of summer with all of the boat traffic.

We did find some nice "fishy" spots on the sonar to hit in the morning if we get to them first.

Re: Blue Marsh Lake, PA. (mikesjet)

I fish Blue Marsh a couple of times a week, it has been crazy this spring.

Last week we did very well fishing plastics.

Had a tourney on Saturday (4/3) couldn't get a keeper, we had water close to 60 deg.

There were about 50 boats in the tourney and the winner had 6 fish, and the weight was only 11 plus lbs.

Supposedly he caught them all on jerkbaits.

My buddy and I fished way up in the no wake and as I said no keepers.

Water temp was close to 60 again last night and in 2 hours I only had one good hit and I missed that one.

Gonna try moving down lake tonight.

Did the post say what launch the were using for the FOM tourn.?

    Thanks Mike.

I was hoping they would launch there.
State hill gets to be a pain in the afternoon. Too much traffic.

Registration is at 5am and launch first light and it is limited to 49 boats. Shouldn't pose too much of a traffic problem. I hope!!

    Re: (mikesjet)

I was referring to the pleasure boat traffic. The Dry Brooks launch sets back in a cove and it is no-wake around the launch, for most people. But the State Hill Launch is adjacent to the main part of the lake that the jet skis and other pleasure boats use. It makes it tough getting in with all the boat traffic plus there is a lot more wakes hitting the dock area.

But the bottom line is if you get a chance to go fishing, it is always a good time.

That lake is nuts when it comes to pleasure boats and jet fleas. I fish raystown the majority of the time and it is crowded but you have 26 miles of water. That place is just crazy, heck I almost flattened a skier in the middle of the lake on Friday. His tow boat must not have known he wasn't there for a while since there wasn't a boat near him.

Yea, after a weekend on Blue Marsh it makes you wish they required a boating course for everyone.

Fortunately their is a lot of no wake water. It is boring driving through the no wake areas, but it makes for much better fishin.

You guys need to fish more drop shots, and wacky style presentations on that lake. Theres not much structure but it is around if you look hard. I only had one last weekend but it was a 19" smallie on a hsot in about 8ft of water on a drop off in the northern end near the bridge

Thanks for the info fish and ski. I figured that a more finesse approach would be the ticket. As you said, there isn't alot of structure but it is there is you look. I have found some on sonar and have most definitly marked it. I don't care to win the tourney, but I hope to at least catch something tomorrow. Last Friday was terrible. I still think it was too cold and we weren't fishing deep enough.
