Ethanol and gaskets?

I have a 1991 150 faststrike and noticed the rubber gaskets on the sides of the carbs are wavy looking. I took one off and you can tell that they are not sealing (might explain the surging I had the day before I put it up for the winter). I heard someone say that the ethanol will eat up the older style fuel lines but what about the rubber gaskets of that time period? Would they be "rated" for ethanol? Just wondering because I've never had any problems at all until I started running the ethanol gas. I also noticed in the other motor forums that it seems like everyone is having problems with this stuff. Btw, i always use seafoam in every tank. What is the best fuel additive to combat this ethanol?

there are numerous 'cure-all's' on the market..and this reminds me ,of the time when they removed al lead,....soooo,all the shops,were loading up,on a product,called T-K7....lead additive....yrs ltr,..testing etc,concluded,all is ok.....but,this alky gas,....s not REMOVING,its adding....i think,we all ,as far as boaters,better pay attn,..........now if u have 3000 acres of corn,.....great,..and i am a cattle rancher,......but,..i think,..........we r in for some serious pwrhd failures.....for yrs...

yes it's hard on any gasket hose fuel filter seals etc. and I use the marine stabil in the blue color, so far I have found it to be cheaper to use per gallon of gas,
