    1995 evinrude 90hp, v-4 head gasket leaking!

(1995, v-4, 90hp, 90 deg.) Got my friends boat running the other day, it has sat along time without being ran. And the head gasket edge is rusted. With a water hose hooked up, water seeps out externally at the top of the head, along the rusted edge. Im pretty sure nothings getting into the cylinder, just an external leak. None the less it needs head gaskets. Are there any things I need to be aware of before this repair. It looks like a simple gasket to do. Following info from a seloc manual.

planning on it, just wondering if somthing might hang me up like, a seal you need, or if you dont set somthing a certain way, youll mess stuff up.

head gaskets were a cake walk, but one cylinder head has dammage inside, Im guessing that the block has been replaced and 2 cylinders on that side were dropped and pistons came up into the combustion chambers making the dammage heres a pic, we also noticed that head had some more carbon build up and light sooting in there compaired to the other side. Is this somthing that could cause problems down the road, it ran fine before and runs good now... wouldnt think someone would reuse that head.

Someone thought you could reuse the head. It ain't that terrible bad that you could fix for yourself but if it was for re-sale nope!!

thats cool, like I said it ran fine, the cylinder walls were clean too. Motors running good, might go out for a test run this weekend, then comes water pump and gear case oil. Thanks for your input
