    Chautauqua report

    Hi everyone,

I'love to see this thing get up and get some Real momentum too, so I'm going to start putting out my weekly updates. I like to get out to some different lakes across the state, but mostly Roch to Syr.

I hit Chaut for muskies the weekend before the 4th. no success on that front but did find a sweet spot for the LMs in the channel between the two basins. We.d drift down from the bridge and cast in 10-15 FOW and each time, as soon as we got about 100 yards past the bridge: BAM, I couldn't keep them off an 8in Rapala.

I'm staying with a buddie on Oneida near brewerton for the weekend in 10 days time. If anyone has some good spots out there for pike or LMs let me know. week after that its otisco for tigers. I'll report back here after.

If you see me on the lakes stop be and say Hi, I've got the tan and white Nitro sport pulled by the red Rendezvous (until the lease is finally up this year!)

    nice report, keep us informed...
I myself have nothing to report... after my disgraceful finish at Sacandaga haven't been out... just work... got 2 graduation parties this weekend...
my next trip is saratagoa next week for team bass usa... hope to get a day off to drive down there...
Can't help with Oneida pike or LGM... lots of guys fish the NW bay for them...
walleyes keep you busy up there though...

    Re: Chautauqua report (jkaszynski)

I haven't made my way to Honeoye yet. hows the fishing down there this week? I know of a bunch of guys that do go there from time to time and have a buddy with a family place there. I always end up on Conesus when considering the two based on familiarity, so I need to bite the bullet and get out there and learn the lake myself.

I'd love to be on the finger lakes myself this week. Instead I'm sitting here typing this while overlooking a huge body of water that holds no value for me in my own private he!!. Its my annual sacrafice to Cape Cod for my wife and I'm not about to drop the boat in the salt and even the little bit of surf fishing is limited since I'm not about to destroy my good reel in the salt and sand. Its like the old saying "water water everywhere..."

We're headed back Saturday and hope to make it on the water Sunday, but not sure, depends what time we get back. How long are you there?

I do have another week of fishing coming up the last week in July as I orchestrated a week before starting my new job so I can take a week on the various lakes. Haven't planned out the week, so if anyone has some time off to join, LMK.

Capt Ice- Thinking I may have to try the 'eyes on oneida next week too. from what I hear they;re pretty tough to get while casting out there though. I do have a trolling rig I can throw on the boat (no riggers or boards though, just dipsies) for a change of pace while I sit under the bimini and work the TrollControl. one of the few advantages I remind myself of while I look jealously at you guys with the 'pure' bass boats.

    Later-

nitro... I catch alot of walleyes up the casting... tubes and spider grubs...
also get them on spinnerbaits and cranks... Don't believe the deep hype... find some weeds in 10 ft and walleyes could be around... enjoy!

    Re: Chautauqua report (NitroMusky)

for the last 2 weeks it's been great. I haven't had the chance to hardly to get out (family playtime). My uncle last weekend caught a 19.5" 3# largemouth and my aunt caught a 19" 5# largemouth. They used pretty much nothing but yamasenko's hooked mid-worm on a slow retreive and he actually counted 30 come in the boat last friday. I even did that on my 2 year olds spiderman pole and caught an 8" for him to reel in. Sadly enough the fish are there for the taking, I just haven't had the chance to get out and take them yet.
