    Whacked 'em

Got Skeeter Mark into town late Wednesday and kicked off his tour of the state by going to Winni on Thursday and we wacked 'em. We caught an easy 80 smallies going out of Ames and all good fish w/ several over 4 and a few over 5. We wanted to sight them on beds and we found some, but the weather was bad enough that we dropped that early. We started Friday w/ what might have been the DUMBEST decision ever which was to LEAVE fish and go over and launch out of Lee's. We still caught 30+ but the size dropped so we pulled out and went to Merrymeeting and wacked another 30+. Saturday we went off to Squam for 60+ w/ alot of small fish and the usual 2 lb + fish and Squam claiming yet another skeg Finally tally 3 days of fishing and 200+ fish Thanks to all for the help as Mark had the trip he was hoping for. Now I just need him to put me on the same # and quality of fish when I go down to Amistad, one hand had better wash the other.

    Wow great weekend EJ.
I was headed to Squam yesterday morning with my girlfriend and saw the lightning as we rolled over the hill before exit 22 and we turned around and went back home, guess I made a bad decision there!
I have a friend from Fort Worth Texas that comes up here on occaision and we have fished Fork in Texas a few times also, he absolutely loves to catch these big smallies we have around here.
Sorry to hear about that skeg, but it went with honor!
Ames is open again??? How much to launch?
    Nice post.

    Re: Whacked 'em (TMG)

Ames is NOT open. I rented a cabin for the 1st night. and that is why we went out of there. I sat at the launch at Squam for about 5 minutes before I said to hell w/ it and put in. The skeg is manageable but I do need to find someone to work on that and the prop. Anyone know anyone local to Atkinson or anywhere for that matter? Mark actually caught one on a BARE hook. He was re-tying one rod and had a fish hit a hook he had hanging over the side of the boat. You know you are in the right spot when that happens .

Does anyone know what happened to the fishing over at Fay's boat yard over by the marine patrol station (Rod??) The fishing used to be great over there and all we caught was about 50 of those rock bass and we did not practice catch and release.

Good for you EJ, I do the same thing when I catch them on Winni, I can't believe some moron bucket stocked those rock bass into that lake, I think they put a hurting on the smallies on Sunapee back a few years ago.

Maybe so but Talapia have more meat on 'em. I don't know too many people who eat rock bass, anyone?

Ha, you must have bought something from her!
Just kidding, I wonder if SHE ever ate some?
I wouldn't be surprised if they were good, just never hear of anyone targeting them for food, crappies, perch, even bass yes.
I hope everyone starts eating them!

Don't know Paul. Sorry. If those Rock Bass taste like talapia you might have a market for them down here in Texas.
