Anyone seen Open Water???

I am putting this up so that we can let others know if there is any open water in the State. The info will be here only for a few weeks since there will be OPEN WATER EVERYWHERE in the next few weeks. Info on boat access would be great.

Anyone have information to pass along?

On 3/16 I took a ride to VT. The CT. River is open but it has huge chunks floating down. I drove by the launch at the Springfield launch but there was still a little snow in the way. It could be gone in about 2 weeks.

Phil has mentioned the Pow Wow Res. is open as well. That would be in Newton.

Massabesic is open

Gorham pond in Goffstown is open.

Massaseecum is fishable

That must be a lake in MA. I went by the one in NH on my way to Tilton and that sucker was iced in and the ramp had 6+ foot banks in front of it.

Lake Opechee in Laconia, is really opening up quickly, you could easily fish 3/4 of the lake if you could launch. There is still quite a bit of snow blocking the launch. Very good smallmouth fishing. In New Hampshire, just remember you cannot fish out of a boat on any body of water that is designated SALMON AND/OR LAKE TROUT WATERS until April 1st.

Thanks for the posting Craig. We had a real nice warm spell and a lot of rain. Did that clear the launch?

Bennington Bog in Bennington is starting to open up as well. If I was to guess, I'd say about 2 weeks it will be open. I'll keep you posted.

The Bennington Bog is almost completely open. The coves are even breaking up. I never made it to the ramp this week but I would guess that the ramp is accessible.
