    Need help quick

New 200 HP E-TEC, yesterday, first day on water. Ran fine a few minutes, then quit. Gas line bulb sucked flat. Tried for 2 hours to get it back out. No luck. Motor ran fine a month ago at dealer, and a couple days ago at my house with ear muffs. Calling local dealers today to get it in, did not buy it locally, selling dealer over 240 mile away. I know I should have bought locally, but they did not have what I wanted with a 10-12 week wait to get it. Any ideas or suggestions before I take it in. Thanks.

When the ball flattens out, that means there is a bad restriction, hose kink, or plugged up area between the ball and the gasoline in the tank. Visually inspect all your hoses, replace any fuel filters between the ball and tank, make sure the primer bulb is OK and that an internal check ball did not come loose or jam internally.

Sometimes the problem is inside the pickup tube of the gas tank or trash in the anti-siphon valve or fuel-fitting elbow attached to it.

Problem solved. Replaced primer bulb, motor ran great. I'm extremely impresed with the E-TEC. Very quiet, no smoke and powerful. Boat ran 8 mph faster at 3000 rpm than old boat did at 4000 rpm. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I hope you purchased a genuine factory OEM primer ball and not a grey colored one or other type that are aftermarket cheapies.

IF you did, change it out as soon as you can to an Evinrude one.
