    Tell Us a Fish Story

What's the biggest Bass you've caught on an Indiana body of water? Tell us how big, the water and weather conditions, what kind of bait you were throwing and how you caught it. Please include any interesting details! In other words.....tell us a BIG fish story!

Re: Tell Us a Fish Story (Passion 4 Bassin)

fished an open tourney up at barbee a couple of weeks ago. I was flippin a senko into some lilly pads, got a bump.. set the hook and dropped my rod in the drink.. I thought oh sh*t, I looked at the rod (floating mind you) swimming away. I hit the trolling motor and caught up to it, picked it up out of the water, still fighting reeled in the fish, first keeper of the night. cruised down to the next set of pads near a dock. nothing so I decided to skip one under the near dock. thought I got snagged. (it is dark now) I then hear a nice splash where I was snagged. hit the trolling motor again to go over to it. 2 pounder wrapped around the dock pole. never got another fish in the boat the rest of the night, guess I used up all my luck in 1 hour...oh well just thought I would share that with you all. sorry so long. btw loomis rods do float

Re: Tell Us a Fish Story (Passion 4 Bassin)

I posted this as a seperate topic, but it belongs in here.
I know this sounds like a tale, but thank God I had a witness. I took a buddy to Webster to fish for Muskies on 10-5. He has never caught one and we decided to try the pre-front conditions. Water temp was 71 mian lake and 74 in the coves. The first place we pulled up on we had 2 follows right off the bat. Then 3 hrs of nothing. As it started to get dark, we headed for the "tube" and fished that cove. My buddy had given up on the Muskie bite and picked up a popper. Second cast-4# LM. OK, I got the hint , and picked up a frog, cast into the pads and the frog just disappeared under the water. No splash, not even a ripple. I set back on it and WHOOOM! Off toward the main lake smokin' the drag. After what seemed like 20 min and several trips around the boat, under the TM and such, I finally see my frog in the back of the Muskie's head, thinking I had foul-hooked him. We got him in the boat, I start to pull the hook out of his head and my frog lifted effortlessly off the fish. Not hooked anywhere. When he sucked the frog under, the line wrapped around his head and got hooked on the frog! I had lassoed him right behind the gills and just wrestled him to the boat. I've never seen anything like it. We took some pictures (about a 35" fish) and let him go, then just sat and laughed for the next 15 min., then we drank a few beers at Lucky's Tavern. Strange, but true.
