Held a Renegade T on Sunday 9/18/2005. Had ten boats we weighed in 66.4 pounds of fish. Big fish 8 14.5 pounds. Fish were caught on just about everything in your tackle box.
Water 75 degrees. 4 ft visabilty at the dam.
We caught our fish on pop-r's and brush hogs watermelon the fish were next to wood. Did not fish the grass. We finished 5th. The shad are starting to ball up in the back of coves saw several balls bust out as something ripped thru them trying to eat them. Assumed they were bass of some sort.
First place caught most of there fish on Buzzbaits late in the day.
Second place were using C- rigs not sure what they were throwing but it caught the big fish.
Third place caught there fish on crankbaits and lizards and chompers (watermelon red)
It was just a good day for Monroe.
WOW!!! almost 9 lbs!!![]()

Held a club tournament on Monroe. First place was 15 6.5 2nd 11 7.5 3rd 9 2 4th 7 9 5th 6 10.5 6th 2.7 Had two fish caught that were over 5lbs (5 2 and 5 2.5)
water temp at the dam was 64 degrees. The fish were caught on a variety of crankbaits. Normans, Storms, Bandits and Spinnerbaits. Visabilty at the dam was 2 feet the whole lake looked muddy to me. Water was down 3.5 feet according to the Army Corp. They had not set the new pipe in the back of sugar yet. I think I can get my 520 through it when they doIt will be a tight fit.
Pretty good weigh in for our club at Monroe. All in all good day at Monroe.
Nice Report Joseph! Your club caught some fish...especially for Monroe!![]()

Fishing at Monroe has not been very good at all. I have went there 3 times this week and tried fishing for both Bass and crappie and had no luck at all. While fishing at my usual crappie hole, I did manage to catch one small hybrid striper (wiper).
Now Lake Griffy has been a whole nother story. Lake Griffy is a small shallow lake that use to be Bloomington's main water supply and is located in a big valley right beside the city in the city limits. In the summer it is so covered in moss that you can't even fish it. I have never really bothered with this lake because of the moss and the fact that I never really caught anything in it. Well the other day when I was returning from Lake Monroe I decided that I would swing by there and have a go at it. - was I surprised. I fished a small bridge that was a gateway from the small side of the lake to the large open side of it. I absolutely killed the bass. I was throwing a beetle spin and was catching 1-3 pound bass as fast as I could cast out. Since then I have been back every day for four days and the fishing has been just as good. All In all over the last 5 days I have caught around 60 bass with a couple nearing the 5# mark. It has been a great release from the long boring winter.![]()
Hey Brent, welcome to the Indiana Forum! You have been catching some fish!!!! That is AWESOME!! I am envious! Keep us posted...I may have to swing up that way!![]()
I fished the main side of Monroe today from about 7am to 12:30pm. The water on that side was clear green and you could see your lure to about 5-7 feet down. The fishing was horrible for us. We trolled and fished several coves and tried about every lure and lpastic we had, we even had live bait. Between two of us we caught a total of 2 darn fish all day long. It was a nice day to be on the water and out of the house though.
Tim you and the family had an AWESOME day for any where...especially Monroe!! Congrats!!![]()
By the way, I promoted your event in my bass club meeting the other evening. I gave out your number. I don't know if you will get any response, but hopefully you will. Good luck!![]()
Brent, Welcome to the Indiana forum and to the BBC. I've fished Lemon and Monroe a lot down through the years and never heard of that lake. Sounds pretty awesome to me!!

Tim,
Awesome... especially for Big Mo! I am hoping to fish this weekend, but who knows what this weather is going to do! I'll probably fish anyhooo, I'm goofy like that!
Well, I did fish BOTH days. My nephew spanked me good on Saturday, catching 3 keepers to my 1. He was getting bit on a shaky head worm and one chunk ate a chatterbait. My fish ALL came on the jig. Plenty of shorts and one fat 16" er.
Sunday(Tourney day) I ended up with 2 keepers and the pard had a nice one come un-buttoned boatside. Shaky Head and jigs were the flavor... but no big fish in our sack. 2 bookend 17"ers that weighed in at 4 and change. I believe it took 16.84 to win and a gal caught the Big-un, 7.23 I believe.
All in all it was a nasty weekend as far as weather goes and I toasted a bearing on my trailer so...... back to turning wrenches!
Terry I am glad that some one besides me likes that Shaky Head Worm!! A lot of my buds make fun of me for using it, but that sucker catches fish!!![]()
I saw a crappie, a pig walleye, and several bass come to hand in 2 days... it DO catch the fishies!!
