My son and I are planning a trip to Okeechobee early in 2012 (from Indiana & Virginia) and would like suggestions as to the best time. We don't particularly like to fish for bedding bass. Also, suggestions as to where to stay.
Thanks!

Inside that link you will see the BBC Florida Bass Club is going to be down there, this past one they got security to keep a eye on the boats. Just thought that may give you some piece of mind.![]()
Luke 22:36
Bass in Florida can bed several time a year. During the heaviest bedding times all bass are potential bedders so taking them off the bed is no different than catching one staging. The Fish & Wildlife Commission, see nothing wrong with bed fishing, as there is no proof that it will hurt the population. So come on down and stick a few, but release them...
The fish will start to move to the hills this month. I would think that the big first wave would be in the middle of Jan. I went last year and they were on the bed hard from the middle of Jan to the end of Feb. Good Luck. Hope this helps
