Lake Norfolk and Bull Shoals ?

My family and I will be on Vacation 7-5-08 thru 7-12-08. We will be staying on lake Norfolk, but might make the drive over to Bull Shoals one day. My question is, I want to be able to take my kids (4 and 6 years old) fishing for pan fish and do some bass fishing for myself. Since I have never fish these clear water lake, what do I need to have for my kids to have fun. Also I know the lakes are close to full capacity, but I was also wondering about the river fishing for Trout. I'm looking for some guide lines, not everything. Any help would be Greatly appreciated. You can post it on here or I.M. me or E-mail me at jggrbr@comcast.net Thanks in advance, Jon.

    Hey Jon!

Welcome to the little slice of heaven we call Arkansas!

I am not familiar with the Norfolk or Bull Shoals lakes (other than an ugly showing at the BBC rally a couple years ago )

Jim or Larry should be along shortly to point you in the right direction...........

Trout fishing is always good on the White River. Fly fishing when they are not generating too much water and spincasting when they have a couple of generators going. Throw Rapalas, Buoyant Spoons or Blue Fox in-line spinners in Rainbow Trout pattern. You can visit with the folks at Big Red's in Lakeview for baits and add'l info.

Bass fishing on Bull Shoals lake is another matter. The high water is making it tougher than usual. Guys are catching fish smimming a lizard or a grub or even a crankbait above the flooded treetops early and late in the day. Others are catching them along the bluff walls. You could catch a LM bass, Spotted bass, Smallmouth bass or even a walleye.

You might even consider taking the family for a float on the Buffalo River and throwing an ultralight spincaster for some smallies. You can rent a canoe at Wild Bill's out on Hwy 14 just south of Yellville.

Was down there(bull shoals) may 15th thru 22nd. Absolute blast! White river fishing was great as well. Wish it wasnt so far away! With the high water, dont be afraid to loose your lures in the trees. Thats were the fish were at.

Get out there early and throw a spook or a redfin.

Does anyone know if you can launch at K Dock, River Run or Beaver Creek ramp right now? Kind of wanted to fish upper Bull Shoals and haven't been down there in a while.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Last I heard, K Dock and Lead Hill launches were all still too far underwater to launch.

Thank you and I figured they were.

A few years back I launched from the road at K Dock but the water wasn't this high

    Thanks for the info!

I actually launched off the road at Beaver Creek Marina...wasn't the best but I got the boat on and off without tearing anything up. First time I had been to Bull since the water came up and you can't even imagine how much water is down there until you see it. We still managed to catch some bass though and had a pretty good day.
