I've got a 1998 Triton TR-20 with a 1999 Evinrude 200, right now I have a 14 1/2 X 26 Stainless Raker prop. This prop works great.
My question is would a aluminum prop work just as well? Who sells them? Would I get the same size? The closest aluminum prop size I can find is a 14 1/4 X 23.

The reason why I ask, is because last year I hit a rock in 5 feet of water on take off & destroyed my lower unit. I was going to use the aluminum prop on the smaller more rocky lakes so if I hit bottom the prop will bend verses the prop shaft. Alot of lakes in my area have a 8 MPH speed limit so I was going to use the aluminum prop on these lakes.

The aluminum prop will have a lot of flex in the blades and by going down 3 sizes in pitch will allow your motor to possibly hit the rev limiter if you don't pay close attention to the tach at WOT. If you only want to use the aluminum prop on speed restricted lakes that is fine. Just remember to swap props if you are going to run big water and keep the aluminum for a back up. The DFI's don't like a lot of idle time either.
