Got a company T coming up this weekend. I very seldom fish the Alabama.....has the water cooled enough for topwater? Are the fish still deep? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

to anyone that cares........10+ won it. Big fish caught on buzzbaits early, smaller fish caught on shakey heads, 8-20 ft on flats/points.
How did you do? Did you go up river or down from cooters pond?
we went down river as far as Swift Creek. We stuck mostly with the shakeyhead most of the day fishing flats and dropoffs and couldn't catch anything but 1# fish. Caught several, but all we had for weight was 5.7#. 6th out of 15 boats. I think there were only 8 boats that weighed, the others zipped. I tried cranks and spinnerbait everywhere we stopped, only picked up one on a crank.
