    Quantum Energy PT drag issue

got an a few year old energy pt 760 baitcaster, the rainbow colored one. I have a few of them and they have been pretty good reels however after cleaning every reel I own over the winter I got one of them that I can't seem to get the drag system to tighten down. No matter how hard I screw the star drag down(i put it down damn tight) I can still pull of the 12LB mono I got on it with hardly any problem. Thoughts?

Are the metal washers under the star flipped right? If they are not the drag doesnt work too well.

I used to own a bunch of Quantums and always had drag issues. The Quantums use a dry drag system, make sure the drags aren't wet or they will slip. Depending on how old they are, you may also want to replace the carbon fiber drags with new ones. Make sure not to keep the star drag really tight when not in use; meaning loosen the star drag after a day of fishing until you need it next. This will help lengthen the life of the drags.

exactly what xranger said, after all the reels I've gone through all winter you'd think I'd know better. Back to working like a charm. Thanks guys

No problem. Glad it was a simple fix.
